Napster Inc. said it has laid off almost 10% of its work force
to cut costs as the company works to launch a version of its music-sharing
service.

Loudeye Technologies Inc. said it will slash its work force
by 12%, in a bid to cut costs while continuing to digest recently
acquired Activate.net. Several senior management posts, including
the positions of president, chief operating officer, and general manager
of Activate, will be eliminated.
