- 12/1/00 - ThingWorld, a provider of audio and video content for Web sites, said it is cutting 35 jobs, or 70 percent of its workforce, as part of a push toward profitability, and is now in talks of a possible sale or merger.
- 12/1/00 - Stockbank.com has reportedly laid off 29 of its 66 workers. The company said that the action is a "defensive move" in a fiercely competitive consumer Internet marketplace.
- 12/1/00 - Broadband services provider DSL.net Inc. has let go 141 employees, or 28 percent of its workforce, to cut spending and gain some breathing room in its search for new funding.
- 12/1/00 - Intraware laid off nearly half of its work force in a move to cut costs. The company claimed that laying off the 180 people was essential to the company's efforts to reach profitability. About 200 people remain at the Orinda, California-based company, which sells and manages software that lets businesses handle their IT assets over the Internet.
- 11/29/00 - Lernout & Hauspie filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, after creditors set a deadline for the embattled software maker to repay its debts or devise a restructuring plan.

- 11/28/00 - HomeCom Communications, Inc., an Atlanta-based provider of Internet software solutions for the financial industry, announced plans to reduce its workforce of 18 positions, representing 28 percent of the workforce. HomeCom will continue to provide ongoing quality service and support to its clients as it streamlines its operations.
- 11/28/00 - dELiA*s Corp. announced that it will discontinue the operations of iTurf.com, a community web site, one of eight properties in the company's network of Web sites. The company said the measure would result in 25 staff reductions.
- 11/27/00 - Covad Communications, a national broadband services provider utilizing DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) technology, announced it is cutting operating costs and reducing its nationwide workforce by 13 percent, or about 400 employees nationwide.
- 11/27/00 - E-Stamp said it would move out of the Internet postage business that coined its company name and concentrate on delivering physical products.
- 11/27/00 - Media delivery service Burst.com announced it has secured enough cash to continue operating through the middle of the next quarter. Last week Burst.com cut 81 percent of its workforce to reduce its cash burn rate.
- 11/27/00 - CUseeMe Networks announced 26 employees have received pink slips. Representatives of CUseeMe Networks said that the layoffs, in addition to the elimination of 10 positions that had come open due to attrition, were necessary for the long-term health of the company. The company said it currently has 124 employees.
