- 12/28/01 - Web-hosting company Verio Inc. has told its employees to expect more job cuts next year in addition to a 20 percent reduction of its 3,250-employee U.S. work force announced in September.
- 12/28/01 - Web-based software company Alphablox is ending its Blox.com service, which provided interactive spreadsheets and calculators, according to a note on the Web site. The service will discontinue on Dec. 30.
- 12/28/01 - IPrint Technologies said it will reduce its work force by 30%, after the recent completion of a merger with marketing-products supplier Wood Associates. IPrint said its executive team, which took a 10% pay cut in October, will shrink by 50%.
- 12/28/01 - Deutsche Bank, Germany's largest bank, said it will cut 2,100 jobs in its corporate and investment banking division, the latest round of cutbacks to hit the sluggish banking sector.
- 12/28/01 - Oracle Corp. said it plans another small round of job cuts, as the company looks to recover from a slowdown in demand for its database software. The software giant plans to eliminate between 400 and 800 jobs, mainly in its consulting, sales and government, education and health-care operations in North America.
- 12/27/01 - Cablevision Systems Corp. said it would take a $55 million restructuring charge and eliminate 600 jobs, or about 4% of its work force. The job cuts are expected to come from corporate, administrative and infrastructure functions across the company.
