The Caravan Top 10 - Rules for the Road

Your Caravan Leaders Care!!!

10. BE COURTEOUS.

9. The National Corvette Caravan is not a 'cannonball' race. Obey the laws. The caravan leaders will attempt to do the posted speed limit, NO FASTER / NO SLOWER.

8. Choose a caravan buddy in case of breakdowns; your buddy will stay with you. Plan on catching up at the next scheduled stop. Do NOT blindly follow the corvette or corvettes in front of you - stay on course, others may be pulling off for fuel, etc.

7. Event Captains and Route Leaders are not responsible for your actions, so please don't forget to be courteous on the road.

6. In parts of the country, a caravan is illegal, so please let other cars into the line if they must. Allow other cars to merge into the right lane. This is especially true at exits.

5. You may wish to drive with your DRL or fog lights ON while in the caravan. Captains and Leaders will have theirs on for safety.

4. FRS CHANNEL #1 will be used for announcements by the Leaders while the caravan is mobile. You are encouraged to listen in & use Family Radio Service channel 1 / code 0.

3. On four-lane highways, i.e. Interstate Highways, stay in the same lane as the Caravan and use the other to pass only and to let other traffic go by. Remember that truckers are out there on the highway to earn a living - so make sure to leave one lane open at all times.

2. Caravans have a tendency to "rubber band". Cars in front will go slower and use the brakes more. Cars in the rear will have a difficult time keeping up. (If you want to go faster, then you should position yourself closer to the rear of the Caravan where the rubber-banding affect has the highest impact - along with sudden braking too; be careful.)

1. BE COURTEOUS.

NOTE: Most drivers have never been part of a caravan this large. STAY ALERT. The most common accident is the rear end collision. ZERO Tolerance means, Zero Accidents. Please, give the cars around you plenty of room to maneuver, and always be prepared to stop quickly!
